Incoming FY1s - your induction/shadowing to become a Dr are important, and your union The BMA know this. The message is simple: attend your induction/shadowing! (And fill out this to get ballot ready to join strikes when needed in the future: forms.office.com/e/WazxKAr4kK)

Errors, contractual breaches… Being a placeholder is a pitiful introduction to the NHS. The BMA has had to exert significant pressure on DHSC and NHS to resolve this. This can't happen again. No more doctors should get their job details with less than 12 weeks’ notice.

We are pleased the government has listened to MSC and committed to prioritising UK graduates for the foundation programme. The government must now urgently implement this policy to ensure we do not see a repeat of this year's placeholder situation.
