It has been a 3 month streak of South Florida receiving impacts from nearby hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico. #Debby in August, #Helene in September, and most recently #Milton this past week. 3 storms with vastly different impacts; a good example that every storm is different.

If the two most accomplished women in the history of American politics cannot defeat the worst, most vile American who ever lived in a Presidential election, then we aren’t the country we say we are.

Former President Trump had 44 cabinet secretaries. 40 of them don’t support his 2024 campaign. Neither does his Vice President nor any of his former chiefs of staff.

What a soggy October! I just got 4.15" of rain in the past day at home and 9.37" in the past week. The 4.15" in a day is in the top 0.4% of all days in the past 12.5 years. Up to 10.30" so far this month. My average rainfall for ALL of October is 6.20".

A strange and extremely flattering coincidence this weekend: I crossed 30k followers on Twitter and 3k followers on Bluesky. I've been on Twitter for 12.3 years and Bluesky for 1.2 years. Thank you all for your support and interest, I truly do appreciate it!

Before #Milton, Hurricane Felix + Wilma were the fastest intensifying North Atlantic storms of the satellite era. #HurricaneMilton is now part of the rapid intensification record books- Milton tied Wilma for the fastest 36 hour wind speed increase on record ~120 mph (105 knots)

Here's a look at estimated rainfall totals across south Florida so far this month. My house is at the tip of the white arrow at 11.05 inches (the estimate is a bit low there, as it often tends to be). That's nearly 3x as much as normal for the first two weeks of October.

The next two names on the list are Nadine and Oscar. Both of those names are still original from the 1982 list, so this year would be their 8th time on a list... though Nadine has only been reached three of those times, and just two times for Oscar. #94L bmcnoldy.blogspot.com/2024/10/late-s…
