Arctic Terns at Long Nanny, Northumberland. A beautiful place full of wild flowers to visit and see these amazing birds at close range. Thoroughly recommended 😀👍

Still in shock to have picked up this Nightjar flying northwards low over the sea off Balbriggan, Co. Dublin just after 9pm tonight. Poor quality clip due to distance, with full mag on scope and phone. Very rare bird in Ireland. County and apartment tick. BWI Fingal

Inspired by Brigit Strawbridge great talk including a fascinating insight of the Yellow Lousestrife Bee, I visited my local wet meadow and to my great delight found some young Lousestrife plants and a rather fresh male who posed very nicely for me,  Macropis europae 🙂 Steven Falk

The bridleway in Alderton, Northants is always impressive this time of year with lots of butterfly species. This time a White-letter Hairstreak was filmed egg-laying on the elm trees at the bottom of the walk. Alan Neale Beds and Northants BC BC Upper Thames Butterfly Conservation 🦋

This is what Purple Emperor tourism looks like. 51 people watching half a dozen Emperors getting plastered on oak sap on a 'feeder tree' at Knepp today. BUT the season is going over rapidly - they'll burn out fast in the coming heatwave.

Purple Loosestrife with Meadowsweet in our wildlife pond in our garden #Brightlingsea #Essex. I miss Meadowsweet when it goes over in the same way that I miss the Swifts when they leave. Enjoy them while they’re here!
