Proud to stand with my colleagues today to lift up the Prison Reform Omnibus Bill. Our state prisons and jails have a culture of violence and impunity because there has historically been almost no oversight and accountability. This bill changes that. It will save lives.

Yesterday, Michaelle C. Solages and I passed a bill in honor of my cousin Desha, who died at just 12 after going into cardiac arrest at school. The equiptment to save her was there, but no one knew how to use it. This bill ensures that will never happen again. For Desha. For every child.
