Listen to Latrice Walker explain the Second Look Act, an important bill we sponsor together to allow for long prison sentences to be reconsidered by judges when it's in the interest of justice:

During #GunViolenceAwarenessMonth, we must confront the rise of illegal “Glock switches” that turn pistols into machine guns. These deadly devices have taken lives in NY and gun makers know their designs are vulnerable. #EndGunViolence cbs6albany.com/news/local/dem…

Today, the NYS BPHA Legislative Caucus marked Gun Violence Awareness Day of Action. I look forward to advancing solutions including my bill to stop the spread of illegal “Glock switches” and hold gun makers accountable. It’s time to #EndGunViolence in NY.

Proposed Medicaid cuts are a direct threat to our communities. Nearly 1.5 million New Yorkers could lose coverage, including thousands in the Southern Tier. Families can’t afford a $265/month hike in costs or reduced access to care. We must protect the care people depend on.

Republicans have insulted the Haitian community with vile rhetoric. They’ve spread lies about Haitian Americans. Now they’re pushing a travel ban to score points with extremists. We see through it and we won’t stay silent.

Proud to stand with my colleagues today to lift up the Prison Reform Omnibus Bill. Our state prisons and jails have a culture of violence and impunity because there has historically been almost no oversight and accountability. This bill changes that. It will save lives.

Yesterday, Michaelle C. Solages and I passed a bill in honor of my cousin Desha, who died at just 12 after going into cardiac arrest at school. The equiptment to save her was there, but no one knew how to use it. This bill ensures that will never happen again. For Desha. For every child.
