Fun day at RSPB Rainham Marshes yesterday decent autumn birds early morning rouzel, 3 Brent's, golden plover and jack snipe on purfleet scrape, 2 cattle egret fly through, Casp, mix finches, knot and first fieldfare of the autumn including a flock of 22 dropping out the sky! 89 sp for me

Not the early Christmas present I was expecting when news broke of this American Yellow Warbler early afternoon. Incredible bird, nearly always on view and calling frequently. Great to see familiar faces. Special thanks to Henry Wyn-Jones lending me camera battery for this pic.

Got in on the nocturnal migration a few nights ago and picked up this massive flock of Brent geese flying over my garden in Chafford Hundred! Also recorded redshank and 40+ redwing. EBwS Bird News Thermal 4 Birding - Simpson Brothers Outdoors

A memorable and long-awaited guided walk around Walthamstow Wetlands today with Sam O'Donnell, then a super catch up at Rainham with Ben Rumsby & Sam Levy. The wildlife seemed incidental but we saw Willow Warbler, Sand Martin, Spoonbill and several ‘new for year’ butterflies.


12/04/25 - RSPB Rainham Marshes Great overall day on the Essex Birdwatching Society walk nice to also meet up Samuel Levy Ravi Arjun Dutta Ben Rumsby. Highlights included: Male garganey whimbrel gropper, Male redstart and 2 spoonbills. Overall great day 😁

Good day RSPB Rainham Marshes with friends and evening on patch. Got Male Redstart, Arctic Tern & Garganey. Finished at Cliffe and got Ring Ouzel found by Frank Cackett. A few Nightingales at dusk. 27 hours straight birding in the last 2 days and absolutely knackered but worth it.

Today marked my best ever find and my 200th species for RSPB Rainham Marshes when I found this Blue-winged teal this morning by purfleet hide. Seemed to be enjoyed by many spectators during the day. Very very pleased!! EBwS Bird News RareBirdAlertUK BirdGuides London Bird Club

Insane day at RSPB Rainham Marshes my first bittern since 2015 dropped in 8am, followed by a flurry of excitement on the thames. Roseate tern patch tick!! As well as 2 curlew sandpiper, 17 sanderling and ringed plover, Little gull, YL gull, 2 Whimbrel. ebird.org/checklist/S241…
