We hosted a paint party with our 4th and 5th grade GATE scholars to prepare for creating a large mural for the Porterville Developmental Center, just in time for the Christmas season. This project is aimed at bringing joy and holiday cheer to the community.

Mr. Quiroz’s students were given the chance to think like pollsters, allowing them to see the practical relevance of mathematics in everyday life by learning about the use of statistics in the polling process from random sampling to analyzing projections.

8th graders visited the Museum of Tolerance, where they explored civil rights, social injustices & the Holocaust. We were honored to hear from Eva Perlman, who spoke about her & her family’s journey of survival during the Holocaust. What an impactful & unforgettable experience.

The Science of Sound - Students are learning about how sound waves travel. They built a model to represent what this looks like and made observations around sound waves based on tone, pitch and energy. Up next: creating their own instruments! Stay tuned!!

Our amazing GATE team practiced strategies around depth and complexity today. What better way to gain the student perspective than to learn by doing? It’s always a good day when we’re together as a team 🫶🏼
