Novak Djokovic Novak, you’re tennis’s Paganini. Both pushed past human limits. Precision. Passion. Pressure. You turned the court into a concert hall and made it sing.

Faust twice in two weeks! Firstly Opéra de Lille - the 1859 first version rarely staged and tonight more standard fare at Royal Ballet and Opera Both thoroughly engaging and much to compare and contrast At present I am Fausted-out - too much time in the company of the devil perhaps!

Blind composer Antonio de Cabezón died on this day in 1566. Blindness, however, could not prevent him from becoming a master of keyboard performance during the Spanish Renaissance. Check out this scholarly-edition of his keyboard works barenreiter.co.uk/selected-works…

Today in Spoleto we were able to see Carlo Gian Menotti's home for much of his life. This now serves as a Documentation Centre for the Festival of Two Worlds which makes Spoleto famous This XVIth century palace is wonderfully located just by the extraordinary Piazza del Duomo

Joseph Haydn died in Vienna #OTD in 1809. He shares with Schubert the dubious distinction of being the greatest composer whose many operas sadly remain neglected. Is it too much to hope for more revivals of Haydn's operas?
