Having served our city as a Councillor since 2008 and my wife working in our NHS, we’ve both seen the back to back devastation caused to our public services by previous Tory Budgets. This Labour Budget is a positive step forward for our city, its people and our public services.

Today, on Remembrance Sunday, we honour those who gave their lives for our freedom. We remember them, their service and their sacrifice.

On the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, we pause to remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Lest we forget.

No one should go hungry. Today I spoke about the alarming rise in foodbank use under the Tories—from 26,000 in 2008 to 3.12 million in 2023 - despite the heroic work of charities. Now we have a Labour government on the side of communities, delivering real positive change.

We said we would create Great British Railways. We are.

Thanks to Baggy Shanker MP for helping us unveil our new building. Students are now enjoying excellent, purpose-built accommodation.

This Christmas, I pay special tribute to those 10,000 British personnel who are deployed overseas. They will sacrifice what most of us take for granted, that precious time with our families, to ensure our nation is safe.
