We are disappointed by HSE Ireland's decision to stop increasing targets on breastfeeding. Our research shows that the required lactation support within healthcare settings is still not universally available. We worry that by removing targets, there will be less focus on support.

📣Calling all interested in infant and young child feeding on the island of Ireland. Aileen Kennedy RD PhD & I would be grateful if you could complete a survey about IYCF in emergencies. It's part of a HEA funded project to develop a preparedness plan. Link: surveymonkey.com/r/IYCF-E-Ire

We are hopeful of breastfeeding supports in Budget 2025, and want to thank Minister Colm Burke TD and Dept officials for meeting with us, the Oireachtas Breastfeeding Committee, this morning. Our group is a collaboration between Bainne Beatha, Liz O'Sullivan and Oireachtas

💶 Ireland's 2025 Budget being announced tomorrow, on the 1st day of national breastfeeding week 🤱. 🤞 for ring-fenced funding for BF support. Last week, HSE Ireland reported ⬆️ prevalence of BF @ 3 months (👏 Laura McHugh). It'd be great to build on that momentum! Bainne Beatha

Delighted to see this from Colm Burke TD 👏👏👏 Funding to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding is so important for public health. Looking forward to seeing the finer details and to building on this into the future. Bainne Beatha BFLGI ALCIreland Laura McHugh
