We had a fantastic art day today in Merlins! We used the Paula Briggs @AccessArt pathway Typography and Maps to help us experiment with different techniques to create stylish and interesting letters. We look forward to showing you are final pieces at the exhibition later in the school year!

To create our galaxy backdrops we explored colour-mixing on wet paper using pipettes filled with food colouring. Our planets were painted using watercolours on damp paper and also by mixing paint with foam. Paula Briggs @AccessArt

Fledglings had their stars in the jar treat this week for being fantastic fledglings and showing our school Christian values! We had a forest school treat of a fire and marshmallows with our brilliant forest school leader, Mrs Garcia 🪵 Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust

Children from Owls and Merlins had a science day on Friday! They completed 4 enquiries to help them understand more about Earth and space. They all worked incredibly hard exploring new concepts and interrogating evidence - well done! Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust

Some of the children in Merlin's have recorded their own Podcasts and News reports and they are amazing! Miss Thomas and Mrs Smith are so proud of you. It was a real joy to watch you all shine 🙂 Check out banburystmarysschool.co.uk/merlins-year-5… and scroll down to find them!! Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust

It’s been a flying start to the term for Starlings. We have learnt how to sprint like mini Bolts, delved into our class book Hermelin the detective mouse (with help from Julie Sargent’s excellent planning), and considered positive relationships through SCIB week.

Yet another amazing week for Year 3 culminating in possibly a first ever - a primary school performance of “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins. It was as cool as it sounds and apart of our 80s Comic Relief day celebrations.

What a day! Year 4,5 and 6 stepped into the role of evacuees in 1939. Lots of new skills discovered. Thank you for hosting us Holdenby House
