Lowri Morris from 3D conservation carrying out some cleaning of our beautiful statue in Smith Art Gallery, kindly paid for by the Friends of the Rydings. The work is expected to be completed on by Thursday.

Bankfield Museum certainly is old, a refurbishment of the staff kitchen has unearthed this historic graffiti dating back to the 1870s!

Last stop in Yorkshire for Museums and Heritage Coordinator Dr Andrew Bamford was the Duke of Wellington's Regt. collection at Bankfield Museum. Great to see so many surviving objects from the redcoat era, including some associated with the Iron Duke himself.

A busy day yesterday hanging the paintings by local artist Roger Davies Art for his new exhibition "Welcome to Calderdale" which has its public opening on Saturday 1pm at Smith Art Gallery Brighouse.

Our new exhibition "The World of Chris Mould" is now open, featuring a fantastic collection of original artwork by the award-winning local illustrator of The Iron Man, Animal Farm and War of the Worlds. It also features a colossal model of the Iron Man made by Chris.

Our "The World of Chris Mould" exhibition of graphic art includes a life-size picture by Chris called The Bankfield Pirate. Visitors can draw their own face for the pirate, one of which will be selected each week to complete the picture. Here is the first selection @chrismouldink

The Calderdale Open Art competition is returning! Artists are invited to submit any 2D artwork, with selected entries going on display at Smith Art Gallery and a £250 first prize. Enter via the Museum website with submissions opening in March. More details coming soon.
