Congratulations to all of the local scouts that came to the Civic Offices to collect their silver, gold and platinum awards last week. The awards recognise their achievement, service, and contribution to scouting. Well done to you all and keep up the good work!

It was an honour to recently attend the opening of the new Greenham Oncology Centre at Basingstoke hospital and to meet the nurses and doctors who work there and learn about the centre. It is run by the Ark Cancer Charity, who focus on wellbeing in cancer care.

I very much enjoyed my visit the Probus Club of Basingstoke on Tuesday and to meet the club president, the 30 members and their guest speaker. I was also very pleased to accept a cheque towards my charity appeal from the club.

I was pleased to present the Basingstoke West Scouts with their Chief Scout’s Awards. These young people’s dedication, resilience, and community spirit are inspiring. These Scouts are shining examples of leadership in action—congratulations to you all.

I recently met with Andy Hyett, the Chief Operating Officer of Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Andy has been instrumental in supporting to our Armed Forces community. He will be leaving for Southampton General Hospital this week, I wish him the best.
