We’re interrupting our normal dry dock posting to announce that we’re at the Museum of the American G.I. this weekend! Swing by to meet us and climb aboard our 20mm gun trailer. Be sure to check out all the other events too!

Our sistership VELOS (formerly USS CHARRETTE) has some damage from a storm at Thessaloniki, Greece. Our thoughts are with her & her museum crew. #OneFleet #sisters #museumships #historicships #keephistoryalive #saveourships #destroyer #museum #education google.com/amp/s/greekcit…

A couple of crew members from the USS Kidd were found wandering around the shipyard, so we invited them to see the Texas in dry dock. They tried their best to straighten the rudder but unfortunately had no luck doing so.

The first module for the port side of the ship just went up. Welding and fitting it to the hull will start today and continue into tomorrow!

The second 5” gun from the port side (Mount 3) is now off the ship! All that’s left is Mount 5 and all of Texas’ 5” guns will be off the ship.

With the 5” guns removed from the STBD side, we spent all day working with Gulf Copper getting the mounts picked up and staged to be craned off!

With the STBD side 5” guns have been craned off the dock floor and made it safe and sound to our warehouse. Here they’ll be given some much needed TLC before being reinstalled on the ship.
