Does this tool look familiar? Known as a pipette, this tool is commonly used in laboratories to transport measured amounts of liquid safely and accurately. #ToolTuesday #NIH_IRP scientists use pipettes to prepare #cancer cells for experiments. Read more: go.nih.gov/14qWEZY

A really nice and accessible summary by Isabella Cisneros in preLights of what our #Hydractinia genome sequencing and analysis efforts have uncovered - especially that Hydractinia uses a shared gene toolkit found in almost all animals. Check it out! prelights.biologists.com/highlights/the…

Our latest paper in GBE (Genome Biology and Evolution) describes the identification of 1000s of CNEs in 51 #genomes, providing evidence that transposable elements are a major source of CNEs that may play a critical role in the evolution of regulatory potential. Check it out! doi.org/10.1093/gbe/ev…

Our paper providing the first comprehensive analysis of the #Hydractinia genome is out in Genome Research! Our orthology analyses have revealed that there is shared ancestry with other animals in the form of a conserved toolkit for regeneration. 👉🏼bit.ly/4dlJKTJ

When is a species not a species... or when is a species actually more than one species? A nice study led by Remi Ketchum in our collaborator Joe Ryan's lab at the Whitney Labs answers that question with regards to species boundaries in Mnemiopsis. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
