Trump’s plan to unleash his ICE cowboy gestapo isn’t about public safety it’s about authoritarian power. If this is how ICE treats the person second in the mayoral line of succession when the cameras are turned on... This doesn't make anybody safer.

Masked ICE agents detained a mayoral candidate and sitting public official. Every day, the Trump administration reaches a new low. Horrifying and unacceptable—we cannot sit idly by while this continues. Brad Lander must be released immediately.

The scariest part about Lander being arrested is that we can all see what happened. We can hear him asking to see a warrant and not resisting. We can all see a bunch of guys without badges wearing masks arresting him. It's scary because we can see it all and they don't even care.
