Preprint🚨 A labor of love that was 6+ years in the making. Grateful to have spent this time curating accounts describing #oyster-local life in the Pearl River Delta- where my family was from. Local authors inclusion is crucial to uncovering the breath of #Asian biodiversity loss

Success ✅ in baseline marine #biodiversity surveys on the sea wall of the new #HongKong International Airport 3rd runway to inform large scale #OysterReef #restoration. We found some oysters; once we deploy shell/rock for reef base in 2024 this could be ideal for oyster growth!

Such a great few days in Hong Kong being hosted by Bayden D. Russell Laura Falkenberg and #HaiweiLuo CUHK Office of Academic Links for our ENSURE incubator looking at next-generation probiotics for oyster. Also got to see The Swire Institute of Marine Science (SWIMS) HKU and the HKU oyster hatchery thanks to #DrRajan. So productive

Very glad this is out finally. Cenozoic Coral Triangle biodiversity has been the core research interest since my moving to Hong Kong. It’s finally done! go.nature.com/45Db9xj

Our postdoc, Zhengquan, has been raising sea urchin larvae to study the trans-generational effects of thermal stress of parents on offspring. Thanks to Leonardo Frosi for the help! This is where #OysterReef #restoration begins! I'm excited to be setting our first batches of large and deploying them in the ocean! The culmination of 8 years of collaboration with The Nature Conservancy Hong Kong. Excited to be making some real impact!
