Clocks go back by an hour this weekend, which reminds me it is time to visit various parks in search of colourful leaves. Here, a sundial, the earliest type of timekeeping device. Canon UK and Ireland @Benro_UK #clock #sundial

The eternal struggle between the sea and rocks - a good reminder that solid boots, not sandals are required on Lanzarote! #Lanzarote #sea #fury Canon UK and Ireland @Benro_UK

The joy of a low tide, when the receding water creates amazing patterns! The late afternoon offered soft light, but there was still a bit of a reflected blue colour contrasting with the yellow. Canon UK and Ireland @Benro_UK

An image that needs an explanation - a few plant branches reflected in a freezing cold puddle. Losing the browns of the twigs in the reflection somehow refined this photo. Just a little slice of winter starkness, but it pleased me. Canon UK and Ireland @Benro_UK

Trapped in ice, the lovely Wisley toucans, became prisoners of a short cold spell. Such lovely icicles and a variety of textures and forms here! Canon UK and Ireland

On a windy day, only a windy picture will do! A lot was going on there, but the dynamism of the moment was perhaps exaggerated by the choice of the shutter speed (1/12 sec). Finding the right shutter speed is essential when I work in a fast-changing environment Canon UK and Ireland

I always suggest visiting #Newhaven at high tide, but as I was lazy, I ignored the ungodly hour and arrived much later. #StormHerminia was kind to me - no rain and lovely wind gusts. I only needed to clean the lens once, quite a novelty there! Canon UK and Ireland

Is there a beauty in destruction? Does this image resonate with me because I was in a potentially dangerous place? At times, living on the edge makes us think faster and appreciate normality more. Canon UK and Ireland #Sicily

I observed the simplicity and elegance of this pier with the wonder of a child, and these words by Daniel Libeskind came to my mind: 'Architecture is not based on concrete and steel, and the elements of the soil. It’s based on wonder'. Canon UK and Ireland #pier #Spain

My trip to Lanzarote trip was great. Only my rental car had panic attacks about speed limits, corners, stop signs, and more. Back to photography though - unusually, I decided on the 16:9 format as it represented best the linear drama of the moment. Canon UK and Ireland

Awaiting the storm, I gazed at this settlement. I admired the architect's vision and relationship to the surroundings. A well-needed distraction from photographing the waves! Canon UK and Ireland #Lanzarote
