Clear signal from the TRAIN trial that patients with acute brain injury (TBI, subarachnoid or intracerebral haemorrhage) should have a more liberal red cell transfusion threshold of 9g/dL.

It is a fantastic achievement to have a nearly 25% increase in the number of kidney transplants performed in the last 5 years. Professor Rory Dwyer, Clinical Lead for the Irish National ICU Audit also spoke today at the ICNARC Case Mix Programme Annual Meeting. His presentation explored findings from the audit as well as quality improvement initiatives taking place in hospitals using the data locally.

Thank you to everyone who donated to "Ger's walk" on Mt Leinster and raised over €6000 for our ICU. Ger Kavanagh had a severe traumatic brain injury and was a patient in ICU North in Beaumont. He has recovered very well and we are delighted for him!
