To understand why childhood trauma is so detrimental, is to consider what it would be like to be dependent on someone who is hurting you. A child, having to navigate an unsafe person while also needing them for everyday life. If you relate to this, I’m sending compassion & peace.

There is nothing weird, "immature," or otherwise wrong w/ checking in w/ & reassuring yourself you're not in trouble. It can realistically make the difference between trying to handle a stressor, & trying to handle a stressor plus a layer of conditioned post traumatic anxiety.

To understand the life of a person with cPTSD, is to understand they’ve experienced multiple traumas and after each one, people normalized their pain, rather than making the traumas stop.
