We explored pumpkins and spices and all things Autumn- making use of all our available senses. A little bit of motor skills and movement, lots of engagement, and everything being controlled by sound- activated lighting equals a little bit of magic learning! #PMLD Lancasterian School

We celebrated our love of sharing stories and reading together this #WorldBookDay2024 through our story Cocoon using a multi-sensory approach and then extended through other activities relating to the story. We’ve been sharing this story all term so we were ready to engage today!

#RedNoseDay2024 we took advantage to go for all things red today- we’ve got instruments hidden in tactile, squishy gelly baff and lights, scented water with things inside, and lots and lots of things to use our fingers to pull or make happen. Such a busy morning! #PMLD

What’s under the parachute? We’ve been exploring movement and all our senses through a multi-sensory play session involving motion-activated light balls, vibration, bubbles and music, all under a parachute. #PMLD #engagement

Have you ever played with UV porridge?This is what a playful and fun tactile exploration activity can look like, where we’re using our fine motor and physical skills, anticipation, and awareness of touch, as well as developing our visual attention-to music! Positive Eye. #PMLD

Today I introduced some treasure-basket style resources to help extend the book ‘That’s not my bat..’ They are designed to encourage engagement and curiosity, using textures and auditory stimulation, which can be accessed by every child despite any multi-sensory impairment. #PMLD

Autumn came to our class this week. A metal bowl, an umbrella and shower curtain, lights, a dark room, pumpkin spice and a steel drum meant every child could discover their own way to engage and use multi-sensory learning fun! #PMLD

Gelly baff with Autumn themed objects and some metal items to reach and grasp- connected to a Touch Me device from Playtronica so that every movement and expression of curiosity creates notes and sound! Fine motor, Listening, Responsiveness, realisation, and anticipation! #PMLD

We’re having a sensory learning day; pumpkins, spices, lights, and things to taste, smell, touch and move around to. Of course, still working on each individual’s learning intentions through the themed day. #PMLD Lancasterian School

A tree and festive exploration area designed with Positive Eye. positive looking in mind! We can investigate all the senses and stimulate curiosity with stories, music and tactile exploration. #PMLD

We’re going on Elf hunt in class today- with a sleigh ride swing, and lots of icing sugar, marshmallow and gingerbread filling the air- mess and interaction and fun! This afternoon the Christmas pudding is coming out! #PMLD

World book day joy- we delved into our imaginations, exploring nursery rhymes from around the world with a parachute, getting messy with porridge and honey, and tip-tapping in a story massage and movement session… can you guess what our story was?? #PMLD

Another #positivelooking @pos_eye session, where I had to wear my fluorescent jumper to join in being noticed! Today we used UV streamers on an A frame, with a switch/controlled fan and a bouncy chair, lots of sensory resources, and some activities using fine motor skills! #PMLD

Can you see the learning? This is pupil-led, adult-facilitated engagement. Movement, fine motor skills, visual skills, colour, cause and effect and anticipation. This is the heart of a #PMLD class Lancasterian School

For a theme of ‘living things’ we started at the garden centre, and then created creative sensory artwork using real plants, herbs and paint. Finally, we planted in soil while using a Biotron from @playtronica to listen to music made by the plants themselves. #PMLD
