Over the past few months we have been out mapping intertidal #seaweeds across the UK. Using extensive field and multispectral aerial surveys we are hoping to understand how diverse "Marine Forests" contribute to healthy #coastal #ecosystems across local and national scales 🪸😍

This week #BEFScale researcher @tom_fairchild and Masters student Josh have been developing tools to map the abundance of diff #species of canopy-forming brown #seaweeds using our #multispectral #drone! We can see diffs between #fucus, #ascophyllum and #kelp spp! #science #coasts

It's been a busy 3 months! From completing setup on disturbance recovery #experiments in #SouthWales and #Orkney, through to #surveying 9 more #shores in #scotland and #Wales, the Natural Environment Research Council #BEFScale project has been making real progress in 2023. 🤟🌊🪸🌊#science Swansea University
