On Wednesday, we held 🇧🇪🇧🇭 political consultations, together with Bahrein counterpart Amb Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa. We had productive discussions on strengthening our bilateral relationship, the fight against violent extremism, regional issues in Middle East and Europe.

It was a true pleasure to welcome Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan at 🇧🇪 Belgium MFA today. Very timely discussions on bilateral issues, as well as the situation in Syria, Gaza and Ukraine and multilateral cooperation.

🇧🇪🤝🇺🇸 80 years ago, the USA fought the #BattleoftheBulge to help Belgium regain its fundamental freedoms & rights. We honor their #WWII sacrifice and our historic bound at the Mardasson Monument in #Bastogne, an everlasting symbol of respect and friendship between our countries.

Yesterday was my last day as Director-general for Bilateral Affairs. I would like to thank all my colleagues, at HQ and in our diplomatic missions, for their tireless dedication. It has been an intense three and a half years. All the best to my successor. Next stop: London 🇬🇧
