Thrilled to have this in hand this evening. Big thanks to Casie Dodd and to Belle Point Press !

Well, this email from an old college professor made my whole week! She saw my upcoming webinar with Allison K Williams’s Craft Talks and my book TAKE ME HOME with Belle Point Press! 😃☺️

Last four reads Within a budding grove by Marcel Proust TR Scott Moncrieff Flights by Olga Tokarczuk TR Jennifer Croft All things are too small by Becca Rothfeld The night the rain had nowhere to go by William Woolfitt Belle Point Press

Finished my first book of 2025 in pretty much one sitting — a gripping, bleak, and excellent Western novella from Aaron Gwyn, released by Fort Smith small press Belle Point Press. Very cool to have an Arkansas press putting out stuff like this. Out later this month.

For Front Porch Republic, I interviewed Matt Miller about his new book “Leaves of Healing: A Year in the Garden” out now from Belle Point Press.

Happy pub day to Aaron Gwyn! His latest book, THE CANNIBAL OWL, is now available. Check out what the good folks at @ForewordReviews & Publishers Weekly had to say: “The spirit of perseverance is given wings in Aaron Gwyn’s touching coming-of-age novella”

It’s been a long time since I’ve read anything new that was good. A pilgrimage of loss, initiation into the mysteries of the primordial past, and of our own self-destructive pursuit of a self-made destiny. Will be revisiting this one, thank you Aaron Gwyn

My absolute honor to blurb Katy Goforth’s new collection ANCHORED from Belle Point Press. Get yours now. Thanks to the author for the absolutely awesome bandana 🖤

Congratulations to the CLMP members publishing new books this February—including Tupelo Press, EastOver Press, CavanKerry Press, Akashic Books, Bellevue Literary Press, Slant Books, Vine Leaves, Fonograf Editions, Feral House / Process Media, Belle Point Press, and New Vessel Press! clmp.org/news/books-lau…

Best thing about pre-orders is the surprise reminder that I got! myself! a gift! and it's on! the way! Very excited to read this work, related to the landscape & history of Mississippi, from Belle Point Press

CANNIBAL OWL is a marvelous book. Aaron Gwyn has written just about a perfect novella and Belle Point Press produced a handsome volume.

My book will be turning 1 yr old soon & idk if I will be on twitter day off. It's been a complicated & wonderful journey. It is VERY scary to publish a book about being SAed, but doing so allowed me to tap into a broad, supportive network here and beyond. bellepointpress.com/products/sensi…

I read The Cannibal Owl (Belle Point Press) by Aaron Gwyn in one sitting. It's a novella that reads like an epic. The comparisons-and contrasts-to Blood Meridian will be made, but I found myself thinking more of Legends of the Fall. Thanks to Daniel Cowper for the rec!

Up now on the NVR newsletter (see bio): an essay about Joy Harjo by Benjamin Myers. It is an excerpt from his excellent critical collection Ambiguity and Belonging: Essays on Place, Education, and Poetry (Belle Point Press).
