P1 are investigating 2D and 3D shape as well as symmetry. Some great creations here using loose parts.ππΊπͺ π’ EAC Attainment Challenge Team Learning Outdoors Support Team ππ³π²πͺ΄πβοΈπβ°βΊοΈ

Congratulations to our 2 Easter 'guess the eggs' competition winners and thank you to Mrs Roberts for donating the prizes and to Cani In The Community for making sure that all the children received an Easter egg this year from the Easter bunny. π°ππ

We have now built a mini pond in our ECO garden as part of our Biodiversity Action Plan to encourage wildlife. We also made some upgrades to our bug hotel (a waterproof roof - essential in Bellsbank! π) Learning Outdoors Support Team ππ³π²πͺ΄πβοΈπβ°βΊοΈ π¦οΈππͺ²π

P6/7 planted 27 native hazel trees with Mr McCaughey from Ayrshire College. We learned the importance of native trees for our wildlife and the skills needed to plant and care for the saplings. They should bear fruit in 7 years. Learning Outdoors Support Team ππ³π²πͺ΄πβοΈπβ°βΊοΈ

This afternoon it was the turn of P4/5 to get some jobs done in the ECO garden. We planted tatties, raspberry canes and flower seeds for pollinators. We also cleared some weeds and unwanted shrubs. Hopefully it won't be too long before we see some new growth. Learning Outdoors Support Team ππ³π²πͺ΄πβοΈπβ°βΊοΈ π±π₯πΌπΊ

A huge thank you to the team from RJMcLeod Contractors who donated their time and materials to build a path for us from the playground to the ECO Garden. This makes it so much easier to access the space for outdoor learning. πβ₯οΈππ±

P1 explored the woods on a Minibeast safari. We collected minibeasts in our bug pots and looked at them through magnifying glasses and jewellers loupes. We also looked closely at the moss, lichen and leaves. Learning Outdoors Support Team ππ³π²πͺ΄πβοΈπβ°βΊοΈ πͺ²ππ

P3/4 also did some wildlife detecting in the woods. We found lots of signs of wildlife including webs, feathers, a nest (that we didn't touch!), holes in trees, slime, beetle tracks, nibbled leaves, broken twigs and flattened grass. We have refreshed our school library by purchasing over 230 new books in various genres and all book banded and linked to Accelerated Reader UK & Ireland . The children have lots more choice now when reading for enjoyment! EAC Attainment Challenge Team π₯³ππππ

P2 brought some natural items from their walk back to the class to look more closely at them through magnifiers. They then drew detailed pictures with labels and wrote about how they look and feel too. Learning Outdoors Support Team ππ³π²πͺ΄πβοΈπβ°βΊοΈ EAC Attainment Challenge Team πΏπβοΈπ
