Great to present and see the vast #oceancarbon projects in OceanICU Project this week!

It’s been a great week for the OceanICU consortium strengthening cross functional threads through work packages & disciplines. Inspiration on play from motivated #scientists in our video booth. #ocean #carbon #netzero #ClimateCrisis #eugreendeal Horizon Europe 🇪🇺 Richard Sanders

Busy week! Tuesday was full of presentations and posters at the Lyell Centre Symposium, followed by last-minute packing to start mobilization for the #DY180 cruise this weekend!

Our 4 gliders are away! We sent off 4 autonomous vehicles that will stay in the Icelandic basin collecting data until we retrieve them this fall. BIO-Carbon

We’ve found the white water! This region looks like bright tropical water due to being “chalk” full of coccolithophores and their calcium carbonate liths, or shells. Just what we’ve been looking for on #DY180! Lyell Centre BIO-Carbon

Rescue boat bringing back a dodgy #DY180 argo float. It was an amazing rescue operation! BIO-Carbon

Happy #WorldOceanDay from #DY180! Thankful for the opportunity to continue learning about our ocean and the plankton living in it today. Lyell Centre Heriot-Watt University BIO-Carbon

#DY180 to the rescue: one of our #boatymacboat was having problems. He sailed from Iceland to us, and now it's on board to get fixed. Some DIY for a safety recover 🙂 BIO-Carbon National Oceanography Centre

Ben Gustafson from Heriot-Watt University runs the #FlowCam to determine the community composition in the water collected from the CTDs and dilution experiments. He feels he has a TV, as all of us keep asking him what's in the water today?

And of course, we have #microscopes. The #zooplankton team use them to separate specific species to then measure their respiration rates or egg profuction. Ben Gustafson and myself sneak in when free to pick up pteropods or take pictures of the beautiful creatures.
