Cancer #immunotherapy is over a century in the making. From Coley’s toxins, to checkpoint blockade and CAR T, it’s one of science’s most extraordinary stories of persistence and progress. Explore the full evolution in The History of Cancer Immunotherapy: bit.ly/43XlHIr

Garage labs require gear and knowledge and time. Automation labs require significant infrastructure capital to boot up and service fees will be monstrous unless larger market forms. Cant have a real bioeconomy without both. Lower the barriers to entry or GTFO.

Open science sucks. If I could gift the world anything, it’s to not have to care about this infuriating, thankless, time-wasting endeavor. It’s rife with individual interests, both from detractors and advocates. It’s rampant with vibes and point-scoring as much as substance.

Working on a first draft of my Golden Braid modular cloning tutorial using ApE. Still lots to cover but feedback welcome. Enjoy! binomicalabs.notion.site/Introduction-t…

New Post on Cancer Vaccines They've yet to become a systematic science despite decades of work, 200 trials + an exciting Moderna PII We Compound are excited about more comprehensive assays (full genome sequencing, more relevant readout, etc), novel target spaces & manuf leaps

Ahh, visiting other labs. Back in my youth, we would just go places and do things. Nobody asked questions, MTAs and TTOs did not exist, and science proceeded 10x more rapidly. Today everybody frets about IP rights which will never generate any $$$, and everything stands still.

Wise words from my friend John Fowler. Gutting funding basic research is a profoundly bad idea. Shocking that this has been flying under the radar and that it well might happen.

1/ You want beautiful volcano plots. Striking heatmaps. Big discoveries. But before the analysis, comes one boring step you can't skip: QC. It’ll save your science. 🧵

What project would you be happy to devote 50 years of your life to, despite (or because of) it only being 10% done when you die? Ht Hannu Rajaniemi 𝔊𝔴𝔢𝔯𝔫 and Antoni Gaudi for inspiring the question
