Dr Machteld Kamminga completed her PhD with Prof. Thom Palstra University of Groningen, before moving to Oxford Chemistry to work with Prof. Simon Clarke as a Dutch NWO Fellow on the intercalation of layered chalcogenides and the study of superconductivity #OxWiChemProfiles #WomeninSTEM

Dr Maitane Fernandez Chento did her PhD with JoseLVicario in Spain followed by a postdoc with KnochelLab. She then joined Oxford Chemistry as a postdoc with @RhPdCu before becoming a programme manager for first SBM CDT and now OxICFM #OxWiChemProfiles #WomeninSTEM

We couldn’t have started without our faculty champion Fernanda Duarte who has supported us from the start! Her career has taken her across the world from Chile to Sweden to Chemistry Edinburgh and now Oxford Chemistry with Duarte Group, read about her in our latest #OxWiChemProfiles

Meet Oxford Chemistry alumnus Dr Melodie Richardson! She was in the very first SBM CDT cohort where she worked on the total synthesis of pectenotoxin-4 with Prof Tim Donohoe. She’s now taking on the world of patent law Mewburn Ellis LLP #OxWiChemProfiles #ChemistryCareers

Originally from France, Dr Pauline Pieper is a Marie-Curie Fellow Ed Anderson Group 🇺🇦 working on the synthesis of natural products to treat parasitic diseases. Soon she will be leaving Oxford Chemistry to work as a process chemist, good luck Pauline! #OxWiChemProfiles #WomenInSTEM

This year’s EWOC conference line up is amazing! Looking forward to hearing from these incredible chemists Julia Kalow Carolyn Bertozzi Nicola Webb @DonnaBlackmond VyDong #EWOC2020 #womeninchemistry EWOC

Meet Hannah Fowler, a DPhil student with the TMCS CDT working with Jonathan Doye on simulating and modelling DNA Origami nanostructures. She is also the the co-host of the Theoretically Speaking podcast Theoretically Speaking! #OxWiChemProfiles #WomeninSTEM #compchem

During her time in Oxford Dr Charlotte Kirk did her MSci with Richard Cooper including 4 months University of Sydney before carrying out her DPhil with Prof. Bill David where she collaborated with Diamond Light Source Rutherford Appleton Laboratory ISIS Neutron and Muon Source #OxWiChemProfiles #WomenInSTEM

Meet committee member Matina Zavitsanou a DPhil in Dave Duarte! Originally from Greece she trained as a computer scientist and inspired by Zoe Cournia she came to Oxford to apply her skills to a completely new field! Is there anything she can’t do?! #OxWiChemProfiles #WomenInSTEM

Originally from the US Sandra A Ionescu came to Oxford to carry out her DPhil with Hagan Bayley group, before staying in the field of DNA sequencing working for Oxford Nanopore. Learn about what it's like to carry out research in a spin-out company in today's profile! #OxWiChemProfiles #WomenInSTEM

.Nada Kurdi completed her MSc Chemistry_QMUL before moving to SBM CDT to work with Jon Burton on the synthesis of Omuralide II. She is a super supportive and inspiring mentor within the department! #OxWiChemProfiles #WomeninSTEM #BlackinChemRollCall #BlackinOrganic

Meet Hilary Hamnett Oxford alum and now a lecturer of toxicology University of Lincoln, UK. She balances her research with expert witness casework and is passionate about investigating the effects of cognitive bias within the field of forensic toxicology! #OxWiChemProfiles #WomenInSTEM

Originally from Leicester Dr Jess Pancholi completed her PhD Chemistry_QMUL before moving to UCL Chemistry. Now at Oxford, she's working on novel supramolecular structures for host-guest interactions with anions as an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council PDRA in the Beer group #OxWiChemProfiles #WomenInSTEM

Meet Dr Brianna Heazlewood @HeazlewoodGroup an up and coming research star Oxford Chemistry. She’s an EPSRC early career fellow looking at gas phase reaction dynamics and has just won a big starting grant from European Research Council (ERC). Check out her inspirational profile! #OxWiChemProfiles

We’re excited to host a virtual screening of Picture a Scientist next Friday! Can’t wait to hear the stories of some incredible women scientists. Our event is kindly sponsored by MSD. Sign up link via email/newsletter for Oxford Chemistry

We are very excited to be hosting a seminar next Wednesday with Professor Claire Vallance Claire Vallance entitled “Collisions, Cavities, Cardiology and Other Stories” If you're a member of the Oxford Chem department check your emails for further details on how to sign up!
