Have just arrived in London and am hoping to shed the jet lag with a brisk walk around the City. Aiming to see as many churches as possible. How many can I get to today? A thread of images to follow.

And that’s all, folks. Started nine hours ago, and I am weary. Delighted by how many churches were open today. Will need to doublecheck, but I think I visited 45 churches today (of which 7 were ruins or surviving towers). 19 were at least partly open (narthex or vestibule).

An encore. Grosvenor Chapel, Mayfair. Plain Georgian exterior does not hint at the Comper surprises inside.

No wonder Betjeman loved this place.

Network Rail proposes to install a huge amount of new retail within the Victorian listed train sheds - the oldest, most important parts of Liverpool St Station. There are independent cafes, pubs + food outlets just opposite the current entrances on Liverpool St and Bishopsgate.🧵
