The moment Aljazeera Journalist Momen Al-Sharafi breaks the news that his entire family of 21 members were just killed in an Israeli Airstrike in #Gaza. The look he gives as he is no longer able to talk, is heartbreaking.

Over 17,000 people killed. 50% of all homes destroyed. 9 in 10 people without adequate food. This is Gaza after two months of Israeli bombing.

Finished my first final FULL draft of my thesis proposal. Did I think it would take me an entire year to get to this point? No! Am I actually finished? Erm, no, I have a few definitions to go. BUT, I’m stoked with what I have achieved. (Oh, and it’s double the word count, lol!)

Look, life is bleak and shit right now. Kids are feeling it just as much as us, so if you want to bring them a little magic and wonder, find them a copy of Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell. (I also recommend it for all adults seeking a little escape too!)

Just spent an hour chatting to my brother and niece about her university choices for 2025. She’s such a cool cat and said that she felt ‘at home’ at University of Sydney when she visited on the open day. I’m so excited she’ll be joining me and Bazzy! (Also, I love talking to teens!)

So far this morning I have spent an hour writing 5 sentences. How’s that?! Haha.

You know what the two most beautiful words in the English language are? Nope, not ‘cellar door’. They’re ‘institution access’. 🤓

Just gotta define ‘knowledge’ and then I’m done. I mean. That’s gonna be easy, right? Right? Riiiiiight?!!!

I did it! I did it! I did it! First complete draft of my thesis proposal is finally done. Sitting at just under 8000 words. Sent it to my 22 year old to check it’s understandable to someone not immersed in my topic. Will send to my supervisor on Monday. 🤓🤓🤓

My dad just asked me what Nutella tastes like. He’s 74 and has never eaten it. How is that possible?

It’s my last day of work for 2023 today. So many feelings about this year, but best to save them for a later blog post that no one will read. For now, I’m going to enjoy finishing up some work that’s been troubling me for a week.
