Dry summers in the 21st century are causing saltwater intrusion, poor reed growth, fewer fish & declines in all the reedbed bird fauna esp. Bittern, Bearded Tit, Penduline Tit, Savi's Warbler & Reed Bunting (ssp. intermedia, a reed specialist).

Both of the actions you see in these photos potentially amount to the offence of ‘public nuisance’. One is punishable with “long, long prison sentences” & the other is rewarded with huge bonuses & billions in profits. Why the disparity? What does this mean for the rule of law?

Good gatherings of post-breeding waterbirds at Broadwater Lake today: Tufted Duck, Coot & Great Crested Grebe. Also 2 Ruddy Shelduck. A SSSI & the best waterbird site in the Colne Valley, where Hillingdon Council council want to base a highly damaging watersports centre. Disgraceful.
