First decent Spring ringing session at Clogheen Marsh, with 46 birds of 13 species. Felt more like Norway than Cork with highlights a Siberian Chiffchaff, an acredula Willow Warbler and a very grey ‘continental’ Robin. Irish Cuckoo Update - Cores is back in Ireland! Leaving Algeria 🇩🇿 on 12th he sped north to Bilbao, Spain 🇪🇸. On 21st did a big sea crossing of Bay of Biscay arriving near Mallow in Cork the next day. 1200km of open water and just 70km from home National Parks and Wildlife Service BTO BirdWatch Ireland


Some pics from our recent fantastic BirdWatch Ireland Limerick Branch outing to the Doon area. The highlights were a Great Spotted Woodpecker, Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Jay, Crossbills and a wonderful showing by a pair of Hen Harriers. We even heard our first Cuckoo of the year.
