This sort of ad is far from ideal. Would much prefer a midwife to have the skills to identify eg signs of pre-eclampsia or sepsis, or to know how to manage complexity such as diabetes or other chronic condition.

If only people could see the number of women who come to us with permanent harm either to mother or baby as a result of traumatic vaginal birth or emergency c-section, perhaps more would ask for planned c-section.

Of course there are risks with planned c-section (no birth is risk-free) but we almost never see women with birth trauma from planned c-section.
