Today, I wish every blessing upon the Diocese of Edinburgh and our world. 'Shine your light upon this troubled world, Holy and loving God, and teach us to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly in the way of Jesus Christ, our present and promised Saviour. Amen.' 📸 G. Becker

I was delighted to welcome The Rev Daniel Muñoz Triviño as the new priest-in-charge of St Peter's Episcopal Church, #Musselburgh, a few days ago! Dani and his husband, Guy, have just moved from Spain. Colleagues from Dani's time in Diocese of Oxford also attended the collation.

Amid ecological catastrophes and spiralling conflicts, it is often small acts of grace that bring light to our world. Today, Bishop John Armes discusses hope in challenging times, by viewing the bigger picture through the love of our ever-present God. youtu.be/h07PK1YwnRw

Don't forget to purchase your Christmas stamps! St Mary's Cathedral features on this year's 2nd Class stamp, with a beautiful illustration by Judy Joel. Thank you, Judy, for your design. You have until this Wednesday, 18th December, to post 2nd Class mail with the stamp!

Wonderful to visit The Priory Church, South Queensferry, led by The Revd Gav Burnage and The Revd Iain MacRobert. All are welcome to their Christmas services. They also host one of EdinburghFoodProject's foodbanks (usually Thu 11-1, but opening Thu 19th & Mon 30th Dec this month).

Congratulations to the 14 students at Fettes College & Fettes Prep who were recently confirmed. It is always a joy to share this ecumenical event with The Rev Neil Gardner (@CanongateKirk). Thanks to the Chaplain, Neil McCleery, who prepared the students. Please hold them in your prayers.

"Christmas is an invitation to escape into joy — not to escape from reality." In his Christmas Message, Bishop John Armes discusses our celebrations not just as affirmations of hope in God's love, but as acts of resistance against all that destroys light. youtu.be/A32E8mGKp3M

Thank you, Tracy Gilbert MP, for raising St Mary's Cathedral in Parliament, as well as the challenges faced by many churches across the UK. Thanks, too, to Tracy and Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell MP for their congratulations on the Cathedral's Royal Mail Christmas stamp!

Thank you, Dr Scott Arthur MP (Edinburgh South West) 🌍🌈🌹 and Tracy Gilbert MP, for sharing St Mary's Cathedral's appearance on Royal Mail's 2nd Class Christmas stamp this year!

The Rt Revd Dr John Armes has announced that he will retire as Bishop John Armes on 31 August this year. Bishop John, who was consecrated as 26th Bishop of Edinburgh in May 2012, will reach his 70th birthday later this year. 🔗 Full announcement here: scotland.anglican.org/bishop-of-edin…

I was honoured to help serve food to 100+ guests on Tuesday evening at the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society (SABS) and Hibernian Community Foundation ‘Pitch to Plate’ Multicultural Meal. On offer was food to sustain the body, but also food for thought: edinburgh.anglican.org/2025/01/food-f…

I join Bishop of Southwark in praying for peace in the Holy Land, especially in the light of the distractions coming from the USA this week.
