Experts believe that cheap, blended honey from overseas is one of the most adulterated and fraudulent food stuffs in the world! Celebrate National Honey Day Oct 21 by buying a jar of local honey. #beekeeping #NationalHoneyDay #LocalHoney

We are in the midst of a cost of living crisis, I get that. However, I’d rather not eat something’s at all or as an occasional treat than some of the highly processed & dubious products sold so cheaply. Frankly this flavoured sugar water is not honey! #honeyfraud

Interesting paper about the Schmidt Sting Pain Index which explains why some honeybee stings are more painful than others - this something I've been wondering about as this year I've been stung on my chin and ear as well as my hands! As leaves fall Asian/yellow-legged hornet secondary nests can become visible. Nests are rounded and can reach 90cm diameter. Side entrances make them distinctive. They are made of papier-mache and beige coloured. Sometimes found in tree tops 4 -15m high Never approach nests

A log-turning revealed this rare glimpse of a Buff-tailed bumblebee queen in hibernation👑💤 If you accidentally disturb a hibernating bumblebee, gently cover her back over with the same material that she had dug into and leave her be. Find out more👇🏿 ow.ly/m5F250PTY5J
