The BlackGEM Array was officially opened yesterday! Let's raise a glass to this amazing Dutch-Flemish collaboration that will hunt for gravitational wave sources from ESO's La Silla observatory 🍾🔭💫 KU Leuven Research Radboud Astrophysics.

With immense sadness we have to report that the BlackGEM telescopes have collapsed, only two days after the inauguration by Robbert Dijkgraaf, AstronomieNL, Radboud Astrophysics, IvS - KU Leuven ...but they were tasty!!

Even now they are officially opened, work continues of course. The team has decreased the read-noise in the images by a factor of almost 2 by better shielding of power cables. This requires 'diving' into the telescopes...

As the team leaves again briefly and BG4 happily continues robotic observations it is good to see that some team members travel in style Ramon Navarro
