A massive thank you to my fellow for a frankly amazing gift at the end of her fellowship… (Although arthroplasty has always been great, of course!)

Our latest paper from Nottingham Hip & Knee is now out online - comparing cemented, stemmed cemented and cementless total knee arthroplasty in the obese patients. We found no incidences of aseptic tibial loosening with either a tibial stem or a cementless TKR. kwnsfk27.r.eu-west-1.awstrack.me/L0/https:%2F%2…

The more I see & hear about ASCs in 🇺🇸, the more I think the NHS needs them here. Run by clinicians -> increased innovation & efficiency & incentivised activity -> increased productivity Plus ring fenced so no winter pressures problem

Many congratulations to the whole Nottingham Hip & Knee, NUH Therapies, Harvey 1 & Neo Theatres teams - yesterday we discharged our 400th day case joint replacement since the new short stay pathway was introduced 18m ago!

“The RCP has announced that it supports a change in nomenclature for PAs. RCP Council today (19 March 2025) has agreed that the job title of a PA should be renamed to 'physician assistant’ - RCP submission for #Lengreview rcp.ac.uk/news-and-media…

I'm really proud of the whole team for their efforts in delivering this milestone. We implemented this new pathway in August 2023, & overnight reduced our median length of stay from 4 days to 1 day. Now almost 30% of joint replacements go home on the day! Onwards and upwards...

I’m shocked, shocked! to discover that that micro-fragmented adipose tissue “stem cells” are no better than placebo for the treatment of knee OA. (Well, not that shocked)
