On this day, 5 March 1984, the great UK miners’ strike began when miners at Cortonwood colliery walked out in response to the Conservative government’s announcement of a pit closure plan workingclasshistory.com/tag/1984-5-min…

And how have you managed to do this by using the police to try and break the strike. This is not police work it is a legal strike with legal pickets, also using agency. Spending more to break the strike then to settle the dispute. This is not Labour principles. Do it correctly.

This is not what a Labour government should be about, it should be supporting the most vulnerable not punishing them because they are unable to work

It took far to long to clear the names of these innocent men whose only crime was to fight for a better working environment some of them went to prison, all because of a cover up by the establishment

So what is a fair offer being as your not involved is it bin workers losing money and their safety being put at risk by removing the safety critical role. That seems to be what you are saying. The council got us into this financal mess not the binmen solidarity with the binmen

I just signed a petition: Please help striking Birmingham bin workers fight against attacks on their pay!. Sign here: actionnetwork.org/petitions/plea…

#politicsmidlands The bin dispute is for the same reasons as it was a few years back. It was proven in the high court then that there was no equal pay issue. It is just the council making the workers pay for their incompetence. Solidarity with the striking binmen

Today is workers memeriol day. A day when we remember those that went to work and never came home. History is full of fatal and life changing Injuries due to avoidable accidents at work, so we remember the Dead but also protect the living by fighting to make the workplace safer.

✊ ‘Proud to be a bin man. Proud to be a striking bin man. Proud of my striking brothers and sisters’. Too right Mike. When your employer tries to take up to 25% of your pay, what else are you going to do but strike back? 🪧 PLs RT & tell Bham City Council to stop attacking its

#politicsmidlands the union have been at the table right from the start in the Birmingham Binmen dispute it is the council leaders that are missing in action. stop making workers pay for the mistakes of politicians

✊ The whole trade union movement is united behind Birmingham's bin workers. Time for Bham City Council & John Cotton to listen to workers & their supporters & do the right thing. Stop these huge pay cuts 🛑

❓How hard is John Cotton working to resolve the bins strike? Well, he’s not been to a single negotiation 😮 ❓And how fair is Bham City Council‘s offer to its workers? Take statutory redundancy or lose £8k a year sound fair to you? 😡
