Inspiring the next generation of biologists! Today our group member Clare Andvik held a presentation at the Universitetet i Oslo open day about what it is like to study Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo at @unioslo_mn - and specifically her research on killer whales and pollutants. Lots of interested students!

Read more about our Norges forskningsråd project #multiwhale 🐳 in Titan titan.uio.no/naturvitenskap… This whale is named Skye - she & her offspring are helping us understand the effect of multiple stressors in Norwegian killer whales. Knowledge about individuals is essential!🐳

🚨NEW PAPER🚨 🇦🇶🛳️With climate change meaning the Arctic is becoming increasingly accessible to shipping, how can the supporting port infrastructure be developed in an environmentally responsible and sustainable way, with Arctic communities involved from the outset? 🧵1/3

Gender reveal!🥳🐳 Psyched that a causal lunchtime chat with Adam Warner Raincoast Conservation Foundation at #PSEC ended with us determining sex in ALL our Norwegian orca samples today! 🤩🐳 Sneaky subadults - your secret is out! 😏😆 So cool to get value from every tiny leftover DNA!🤩 Thank you!🙏

Big congratulations Amalie for your excellent master defense today Katrine Borgå Borgå Ecotox Research Group Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo Conducting a long term 3-stressor experiment with Arctic zooplankton was fascinating but highly challenging. You made it all!! The Nansen Legacy

Our #winter_research adventure continues today with Mathieu and Sophie joining the #Polar_Front Cruise. While I am proud of our winter expeditions and research, I fully aware of how challenging it can be with low temperatures, strong winds, waves and darkness Arctic winter 1/2

We looked at levels & intercorrelations of #legacy #PersistentOrganicPollutants, #dechloranes & #ChlorinatedParaffins SCCPs & dechloranes positively correlated with recalcitrant POPs to a stronger extent than MCCPs or LCCPs, but all were surprisingly unrelated to dietary niche
