At 5pm today we shall be on In Tune BBC Radio 3, singing Févin, La Rue, and Vaet. Our concert is tomorrow evening at @StJohnsSmithSq.
Stephen Rice on how Brabant Ensemble find hidden gems of sacred choral music from 16th century: "Increasingly I'm finding these pieces online, on digital archives from libraries. There are still things coming out of the woodwork, so we're hoping for more discoveries!"
Brabant Ensemble have a new disc exploring the work of "a virtually unknown but very worthy composer", Antoine de Févin (Classics Today). They also have a Christmas concert at @StJohnsSmithSq tomorrow!
It's our final day of recording music by the "Wolf Pack": Johannes Lupi and Lupus Hellinck. Lupi's 8-part Salve celeberrima Virgo is just stunning (hints of Gombert's Lugebat) and we love Hellinck's Missa Surrexit pastor too. Out this autumn on Hyperion Records Ltd.
But now finally the #bedtimetunes Brabant Ensemble with some sublime, hypnotic Morales C16th polyphonic ebb and flow, recorded in the warm acoustic of the Chapel of @MertonCollege The cover painting by the way is by Fra Angelico from c1450-55
