Catheter Thrombolysis for submassive PE is safe/effective in appropriate patients. 29% thrombus reduction in 48 hours, No decompensation, No death, only 2.5% major bleed. results of the Standard vs Ultrasound Assisted Thrombolysis (SUNSET sPE) Trial just presented #SVSONLINE2020

By 2018, the mean price of a U.S. medical education was about $300,000; 75% of students took on loans, and their average debt at graduation was $200,000. Various policies aim to combat the problem, but policies targeting cost, price, or debt have different consequences.

Enjoyed the discussion on the hemodynamic vs microembolic consequences of asymptomatic carotid stenosis on brain function. We need to think beyond stroke in patients with carotid disease.

Research from our CVR shows, for the first time, that CTA can reliably measure carotid plaque morphology. CTA could therefore enhance our ability to risk-stratify patients with carotid artery stenosis. Research from our CVR suggests mobility dysfunction is an unsuspected morbidity associated with flow restriction and inadequate cross collateralization in so-called "asymptomatic" carotid stenosis. This app could be a game changer. We are using a fairly expensive in-person lifestyle coaching intervention in CREST-2 for both the β€œmedical” and revascularization arms. Can’t wait to use the SVS app; appears more clinically practical.

An EVT article regarding our CVR's interim results from the CRISP study, demonstrating that vascuCAP’s AI algorithms for risk stratification in carotid atherosclerosis are a better predictor of stroke than stenosis assessment alone. Endovascular Today Society for Vascular Surgery
