Exciting to see Ss making connections between reading and math. @MissMarceron Ss made the connection that the word PRIME has 1 syllable & in math prime means a # has 1 factor pair & COMPOSITE has more than 1 syllable and more than 1 factor pair in math. I❤️it!! Courtney Leard

Nell Duke: research says rainbow writing doesn’t work. Let it go. Move on to higher impact practices Like phonological spelling practices. Teach letter sound associations logically.

We are so proud of our Pangborn Elementary Gr 4 writers! Each class chose 1 student to read their personal narrative to the entire grade (over 100 Ss). These Ss and their audience did a fabulous job today! Dr. David Sovine Carly Pumphrey Courtney Leard Dr. Raegon Clutz

"Reading and social justice"... here's a perspective of a formerly incarcerated man, my cousin. "Did you know, the average incarcerated man reads at a 4th grade level?" Yeah, cuz, we have bumper stickers and slogans, about it. And some are rolling up their sleeves to tackle

If you disagree with people, an org, or a movement... then you should make 2x sure their kids learn to read. Illiteracy produces blind followers.

SLJ hit it out of the park this month…so many great articles. Several new books highlighted that I think would be great to pair with classics for comparative studies. Consider this new book with this classic… Carly Pumphrey Dr. Ann K. Laber Anders
