This week I gave a presentation about flying and offsetting in academia for the Climate Action Research Institute Swansea University. Here's a short 🧵 of the main points...

Remember, Paris wasn’t “always this way.” It wasn’t even this way in late 2019 when I was last there. Just a few years ago, #Paris was choking in car traffic much more. This is new. This is leadership. Cities are a result of choices. HT Fouad Khayat

BuildZero, the £6m project funded by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, will develop a detailed vision of more sustainable building practices, through a five year project led by The University of Sheffield in partnership with University of Bath, Manchester University, Cardiff University, Cambridge University and industrial collaborators.🎉

Delighted to lead The University of Sheffield's partnership in a new £25M Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council CDT in Nuclear Energy SATURN: Skills and Training Underpinning a Renaissance in Nuclear! SATURN will train 140 PhD researchers in science and engineering underpinning nuclear fission technology!

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via The Discourse study. This isn’t just about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice. #citymakingmath

Very pleased to be part of this awesome collaboration!!! We'll be developing new approaches for material upcycling to maximise resource efficiency and optimise material use in the UK built environment! SMASH (Sustainable Materials @ Sheffield) CBESheffield

I had a great time last week visiting Institute of Cancer Therapeutics & Ethical Tissue! Thank you to Sherif El-Khamisy and Sneha for inviting me and to everyone for all the interesting discussions, especially the ECRs at the round table!

📣Have you heard about BuildZero?🎉 This new £6m project led by The University of Sheffield will explore the extent to which the circular economy could meet the UK’s building needs using zero new material extractions, zero emissions and zero waste. Find out more: sheffield.ac.uk/news/study-exp…
