With many of the sticking points still undecided, can Speaker Johnson pass reconciliation in the House this week? Will Trump's engagement finally get the holdouts in line? w/ Brendan Buck Also, the great Michael Ricci joins us! šŸŽ™ļøopen.spotify.com/episode/2GMsXS…

This Freedom Caucus v. Trump WH drama is bringing me back to the 2017 Obamacare fight on the Hill. Difference? Trump holds all the cards here. HFC members are from some of the most pro-Trump districts & Trump never promised to be a fiscal hawk & voters don’t expect him to be.

The pod this week is good. A free for all in the House. The SALT Caucus playing the HFC role. The HFC playing it too. Johnson’s leadership style in question. Trump AWOL until now. Yet I’m still somehow optimistic. W/ Annalyse Keller & the great Michael Ricci open.spotify.com/episode/2GMsXS…

FWIW, I would not expect a conference meeting with Trump to do much to deliver votes. It's useful for him to show up, but not the venue for changing minds. He's going to have to really work at it the rest of the week if they're going to pass this thing.

One bipartisan agreement. As we wait, several R + D sources — staff and members — agree on one thing: Rules Chair Virginia Foxx is a beast. Chairing this hearing since 1 am ET + among the most attentive here. (Not ringing in on views - just a human observation.)

New pod up. Asking the question: what exactly does the Senate think it’s doing? Who better to answer it than Burgess Everett of Semafor. As always w/ Annalyse Keller open.spotify.com/episode/078dTj…

It's a Senate week, so that means we had to get Semafor's Burgess Everett on the pod. We go through what the Senate could change in the package, talk about the dynamics facing Leader Thune & discuss the likelihood of the July 4th deadline. w/ Brendan Buck open.spotify.com/episode/078dTj…

"Everyone thinks this is a grift." "completely nuts." "lol." Biden WH vets have a lot of thoughts about Karine Jean-Pierre leaving the Democratic Party — timed to the roll-out of a book. politico.com/news/2025/06/0…

Let there be no doubt who congressional Rs are going to side with in this skirmish. We don’t need to play the ā€œwill Elon sink the bill?ā€ game.

You’re telling me Musk was in it to shape government policy to benefit his companies, not because he was a devoted conservative? Knock me over with a feather.
