On this day in 1789, the storming of the Bastille Prison in Paris marked the start of the French Revolution Last year on Bastille Day, I saw this spectacular, unexpected and free firework display in the Alps with French flag colours 🇫🇷

Checklists & briefings are important in many safety critical professions yet sometimes seen as ‘tick box’ exercises While I would never compare aviation & medicine, here’s an example of a great briefing: Active engagement, good body language & a shallow authority gradient

Flying to Jersey today to run a workshop on culture, civility & dealing with poor behaviour Also meeting senior Trust managers later about embedding human factors to improve patient safety, team working & morale A top down & bottom up approach is key to help change culture 😀

High blood presume & raised cholesterol are often called ‘silent killers’ because they can go unnoticed with no symptoms When I was a medical student, a relative died suddenly aged 50 from a massive heart attack so I always check them annually Happy with these readings 😀

Been in the hospital for 11 consecutive days including last weekend on call It’s been quite tiring but can now relax & open this lovely bottle that was given to me recently by a trainee The job has its moments but feel very privileged to be a surgeon Have a good weekend 😊
