On my way to DC for a full weekend centered around public education and working for all kids! Excited to speak to the 2024 Teachers of the Year, attend NEA’s Excellence Gala, advocate on the Hill, represent at the NEA board meeting, and reconnect with friends across the country!

When you’re in DC and you get an impromptu invite to attend an event with the US Secretary of Education, Miguel Cardona - you change your plans and go. A great start to the week!

I was honored to be able to present my TED Ed Talk to the class of 2024 Teachers of the Year last night, along side four other amazing individuals. The Teacher of the Year Program is very special, so it was a privilege for us to be able to represent our class of ‘23 cohort.

Honored to be able to represent Kansas NEA and public schools, at the NEA Excellence Gala. It was a wonderful night of being able to connect with colleagues, friends, and family in support of what’s best for all kids.

It was an exciting way to finish off the week by coming home and finding this package had arrived. It’s just one chapter, but I’m now a published author! If you want to check it out, copies are available on Amazon!

I’m at the airport headed to Philadelphia to spend 2 weeks working with thousands of my NEA friends from across the country. This event is very busy and also a favorite each year. It’s always motivating being with so many who are working hard for the public education profession.

I start back at work officially on Monday, so why not get in one more conference??? Super excited that my summer travels will finish with the 2024 NNSTOY National Teacher Leadership Conference, because I’ll be learning along side so many of my state teacher of the year friends!

Ready to be back in DC for NEA, as I work with other new board members and leaders. I’ll see you all soon!
