Checking in to say that, having finished this last night, I can confirm that Jane 👩🏻's book on Sarah Records 💙 is a truly brilliant bit of work - not just as a label history, but also has a sociological document of being a fan/musician/label in the 80s and 90s. Wonderful.

When people ask us what Sarah Records 💙' proudest moment was, we always say faxing Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley while they were midway through playing Oasis’s debut single telling them to stop. 30 years on, you can’t seriously expect us to do it again – who still has a fax machine?

Jane 👩🏻 @LetThemEatWake … despite looking unsettlingly as if they’ve just knocked on your front door and asked you if you’ve ever thought about Sarah Records; and are now refusing to leave until you agree to buy a book and attend one of their weekly meetings.

I feel I’ve not been plugging myself properly lately – hmmm, could’ve phrased that better – so here's my new Deptford book perched on a fully personalisable cardboard mailer into which it can be easily placed upon request. For instructions, see uncharteredstreets.co.uk/product/unchar…. #Deptford

Can't believe that ONE year ago TODAY we met with Jane 👩🏻 and Unchartered Streets (Matt) Rough Trade Bristol to play a set as a duo after a 25-odd year hiatus. One single & a reunion gig in London with the band later and we're in Paris tomorrow to play. Hope to see you threre!

This means a lot coming from Precious Recordings of London, who have been doing God's work for some time now, but especially so with their utterly beautiful latest release of Peel session recordings by the mighty Saloon. It's actually what I was listening to as I wrote this piece yesterday morning.
