With the first for Yorkshire at Spurn earlier this week and another at N Ferriby last night, how many more are in Yorkshire right now? And I was pleased to catch a Merveille du Jour last night too in my Lowestoft garden. Amazing how a different background changes the moth. BC Suffolk Branch British Moths Antony Wren #MothsMatter

A few #moths from the cliff trap in #Guernsey last night, things I don't see so much at home. Star moths were 4 x Brindled Ochre, 12 x Feathered Brindle, Mallow, 6 Scarce Bordered Straw and 27 Radford's Flame Shoulder. The only micro was Rusty Dot which is a shame.

I've been getting Bloxworth Snout, Hypena obsitalis, in the garden for a few years now. Last night I caught 2 in the actinic including this superbly fresh one. BC Suffolk Branch British Moths #MothsMatter

Red Green Carpet delicately presented on a bed of seasonal veg with an exquisitely festered autumnal reduction and a fresh dewdrop jus. My friendly garden Robin's favourite breakfast 🤨 #mothsmatter British Moths BC_HertsMiddx

There's a lot of late moths around. Yesterday I caught a fresh Flame Shoulder. Never even had an October one before. Here it is, on the left, with a Radford's Flame Shoulder (25 Oct) for comparison. Both Driffield, East Yorkshire. Charles Fletcher Butterfly Conservation Yorkshire British Moths

To try to cheer us up on the the 5th November this beautifully marked Mottled Umber (Erannis defoliaria) popped into the bedroom to say hello.
