I just brought my kids to go vote! Proud for them to see their dad’s name on the ballot for US Senator. My parents immigrated to America 50 yrs ago and today I could become the first ever Korean American Senator in history. Thank you everyone for staying in line to vote!

IMPORTANT: If you’re turned away at the polls because your name is not on the register, don’t walk away. Your response [verbatim] should be: “Give me a provisional ballot with a receipt, as required by law.” Don’t let them steal your vote.

Many of my American friends may feel apprehensive or frightened after the results of this election. You are not alone in sharing those worries. But I urge you to come together with others, be cautious, protect yourselves, and brace for a challenging four years.

And w/o federal funding research in the US is largely compromised as a “pause” would requiere many labs to let go people with high level training and expertise. Recovering from such personnel losses takes lots of resources in training and time. Not a smart move!

On Valentine’s day, 15 Assistant Professors at NIH who had started their research labs in the last 2 years were fired. Their scientific expertise was built over 10-12 years of training, most if not all of which was supported by NIH.  The start up funds for their laboratories were

paid by NIH. Thus a huge investment that NIH made in these talented investigators was wasted. There is nothing “efficient” about what is happening to the NIH. Ultimately it will decimate the US scientific research enterprise, and some of that cost will be paid in human lives.

Money come and go. Harvard did the right thing.
