🧟‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️ During the school holidays it often feels like a zombie apocalypse has occurred - roads seem so much clearer. Why? We take a look at the impact of #schoolrun car trips on congestion here 👇 #carfreeschoolrun #cleanair buff.ly/3U7QE8e

Cars are getting wider and wider every year. These bigger cars pollute more, are more likely to kill people in crashes, and take up more space on roads & in parking spaces. "It's unrelenting" says T&E (🦋 find us @transenv.bsky.social). #AirPollution #BanSUVs theguardian.com/business/2024/…

Mums For Lungs Sadiq Khan Rob Blackie 🔶 Susan Hall AM Zoë Garbett Really glad to see this initiative, particularly given the recent proposal by one councillor in Bromley Council to review existing 20mph zones and speed humps, with a view to reverting to 30mph and removing humps if deemed appropriate, with apparent support from portfolio holder.

Fantastic new review of evidence on #ActiveTravel - which highlights the need for more research on #Disabled people's experience. The findings aren't surprising: Make safe space & enable people to access the cycles & public transport they need, & active travel rates go up!

Widening pavements at crossing points is a small but important way to make streets safer, particularly for people with disabilities, older residents & parents with buggies (see below). Here are 5 more intersections in #Beckenham that would be hugely improved by this 🧵 (1/n)

This is so common in #Bromley. We need Metropolitan Police enforcement, roads that aren't built like racetracks, & a proactive (vs reactive) approach to safety. Residents report things like this & are told it doesn't justify action until multiple people are killed or seriously injured
