This news fell from a clear blue sky. Hugely honoured to be the inaugural winner of the Weston International Award for excellence in non-fiction across a body of work. Vast thanks to the jury, Weston Trust, Writers' Trust –– & all who've read & supported me.

Thank you Paul Laverty for speaking out and supporting the blockade to the genocidal State of Israel. More voices like yours are being heard in the world of culture.

A wonderful chance to hear Laura Cumming talking with wisdom & enthusiasm about her glorious book Thunderclap, the people who paint & the people who see, & the inexhaustible art that survives the vagaries of history & time. Thank you to Ruskin Art Club youtu.be/iqe7oes5Ia0?si…

Thunderclap! It is exactly this of a book which I cannot recommend more highly. I read it all the way to Nepal gripped by the luminosity of Laura Cumming’s writing and the incredible narrative she has created about Carel Fabritius, interwoven with the story of her father.

Solidarity with #Arundhatiroy who is a great writer, brlliant intellectual and brave activist. The persecution and prosecution of those who criticise their government is but one thing - the disease of totalitarianism. theguardian.com/world/article/…
